How to use Google App Password with EBMS Auto Send?

How to set up a Google app password within EBMS Auto Send:

This password setup will enable integration with Gmail and maintain Auto Send email services while Google enhances its security for apps that use Google services.

Steps to connect your Google account and EBMS Auto Send:

  1. Log in to your Google account.

  2. Click on your profile icon on the top right corner and select "Manage your Google Account."

  3. Go to the Security tab and make sure that two-step verification is turned on before setting up the password. If not, follow the prompts to enable two-step verification for your Google account.

  4. In the search bar, search for "app password" and select the corresponding option.

  5. Enter the name of the app you want to use (e.g., "EBMS_AutoSend") and click Create.

  6. A password will be generated. Select and copy it.

  7. Note: Once the app password is generated, it will not be visible again, so be sure to copy and save it in a secure location if needed.  Once you have saved the password, click Done.

  8. Open EBMS and go to File > Auto Send Options > General tab.

  9. Replace your existing Password with the app password generated in step 6.

  10. If you are using user-based settings, enter your username and the Google app password in the corresponding fields to ensure proper integration with Gmail.

  11. Use the "Test Send" feature in either File > Auto Send Options > Diagnostic Settings tab or User Settings tab to check that Auto Send is sending out emails successfully.

  12. Once the test send is successful, you will receive a notification confirming completion.

  13. Validate the email by checking your Gmail account for the test email sent from EBMS.

Tips for Efficiency:

  • Enable two-step verification in your Google account in advance to avoid any delays in setting up the app password.

  • Save the app password in a secure location if you need to use it in multiple places.

  • Validate the Auto Send test email in your Gmail account to ensure that emails are being sent and received successfully.
