Prevailing Wages

Prevailing Wage Overview

Calculate and manage prevailing wages.

A prevailing wage is the typical wage, benefits, and overtime paid to the majority of workers within a particular area and/or industry. It usually corresponds the union wage for a given location. Certain prevailing wages are set in place by regulatory agencies for trades and job types, especially trades hired for public works and government contracting.

The optional Prevailing Wages module of EBMS is a payroll add-on that enables the user to calculate and manage prevailing wages. The module includes the tools to manage certified payroll and prevailing wage jobs. The prevailing wage option combined with the EBMS Job Costing module is a powerful tool for various contractors that require certified payroll.

(Note: Since the prevailing wages features are optional, the following displays will not appear in EBMS unless the optional module is installed. Please speak to your Koble Systems account manager if you are interested in adding prevailing wages.)

The Enable Prevailing Wage option must be checked to use the prevailing wage feature within EBMS. Select Labor > Labor Options > General tab from the EBMS menu and enable the Enable prevailing wage option.

The prevailing wage rate is set within the payroll work code. Review the Creating Work Codes for Prevailing Wage Rates section for details on setting the rate.

Review Variable Piecework Pay by Job to set piecework rates based on a job.

Review Calculating Overtime for details on how prevailing wages affect overtime pay.
