If you’re a business owner, you know what it’s like to be overwhelmed with different jobs that need to be completed. From phone calls and emails with clients to documents vital to projects, life can get unorganized pretty quickly. In EBMS, however, all important information can be kept neatly organized into tasks, where employees can also track their time spent on the job. Here are four essential ways that the Tasks and Work Orders module can help you run your business.

1. Manage Labor with Tasks

Tasks are the foundation for organizing work in EBMS, and are conveniently connected to customers, sales orders, serialized whole goods, timecard detail, and jobs. You can create task group views by tasks based on employee, status, manager, or customer. If you work in construction or manufacturing jobs, you can record events within a specific job, as well as labor, material, and billing. Users can manage labor more effectively by using different work codes to quantify different types of time, such as billable time.

2. Manage Work Orders

This module also allows users to organize, schedule, and print work orders. This is perfect for electricians, equipment repair technicians, installation departments, HVAC companies, computer repairmen, manufacturers, and almost any type of repair or service business. Users can use a task as a work order, and then print it to create a flow of information until a task is completed and billed, or to be used as a tag that is attached to a piece of equipment.

3. Track Time

Tracking time is effortless thanks to a start/stop timer that employees can use to measure how much time is spent on each task. Helpful graphs display available time and give the user a schedule overview, so employees always know what tasks they need to complete and when they are due. Billable time is tracked as well for a service company and can be compared to actual time spent to evaluate how profitable individual employees or entire service departments are. In addition, managers can base employee pay based on efficiency and performance.

4. Record Job Notes

There is a place in each task to record any kind of useful notes related to the task, in addition to a Documents tab which houses all important documents. Users can log, organize, and evaluate follow up contacts, details for service contracts, and other customer relationship information. Phone calls and service calls can also be recorded in their own tasks. Click here for documentation on how to set up phone tasks.
