Shipping Manager - Configurable Dimensional Weight Divisor
Dimensional Weight
Dimensional Weight is a standard method used by many shipping companies to measure a package using dimensions and weight rather than the gross weight of the product. The US Dimensional Weight is calculated within EBMS using the Length, Width, and Height settings along with the shipper’s weight divisor factor labeled the DIM divisor.
In 2025, UPS used a DIM divisor of 166 and FedEx used a DIM divisor of 139. Verify the current DIM divisor for a specific carrier on the carrier’s website.
Dimension Weight = (Length of package × Width of package × dimensional Height) / Dimensional Divisor (DIM Divisor).
Complete the following steps to originally set or change the DIM divisor for a specific carrier.
- Open Sales > Options > General tab to view Shipping Methods. The shipping method should define the carrier.
- Select a Shipping Method from the list.
- Rate Type normally identifies shipping methods connected to a shipping carrier.
- Click Preferences to open the carrier’s settings.
- Set or change the Dim Divisor used to calculate dimensional weight.
- IMPORTANT: Repeat these steps for all Shipping Methods with the same carrier setting.
