System Requirements for EBMS

These requirements apply to supported versions of EBMS. They are intended to provide reliable day-to-day performance for typical EBMS installations. Businesses with many concurrent users, large data sets, remote locations, specialized integrations, or other demanding workloads should contact Koble Systems for sizing assistance.
Processor performance is more important than a high core count. EBMS performs best on processors with four to sixteen cores and strong sustained clock speeds. Eight high-performance cores is the preferred configuration for most new workstations and servers.
Supported Operating Systems
Koble Systems supports EBMS on the following Microsoft operating systems when the operating system and installed feature release remain supported by Microsoft:
- Workstations: 64-bit Windows 11 Pro or Enterprise
- Data servers: A supported Windows Server Long-Term Servicing Channel (LTSC) release with Desktop Experience
- Use wired gigabit Ethernet or faster for every locally installed EBMS workstation and the data server.
- Ensure switches, network adapters, and cabling support the required speed.
- Correct packet loss, unstable links, and network congestion before deploying EBMS.
- Do not connect a locally installed EBMS client directly to its data server across Wi-Fi, a wide-area network, or a VPN.
- Laser printers are recommended for longer reports and higher print volumes.
- Inkjet printers may be used when color output is required and print speed is less important.
- Label printers, receipt printers, barcode scanners, document scanners, payment terminals, and other specialized devices should be verified with Koble Systems before purchase.
- A large number of concurrent EBMS users
- Large or rapidly growing EBMS data sets
- Remote offices, hosted desktops, or multiple business locations
- High-volume document imaging, reporting, manufacturing, or point-of-sale activity
- Multiple integrations, scheduled processes, or other applications hosted on the EBMS server
- Server processors with fewer than four or more than sixteen cores
Windows Server 2025 with Desktop Experience is recommended for new server deployments. Windows Home editions, Windows Server Core, and operating systems that have reached the end of Microsoft support are not supported.

Client and Workstation Requirements
The minimum requirements are sufficient to run EBMS. The recommended configuration provides a better experience when EBMS is used with Microsoft 365, web browsers, document imaging, communications software, and other business applications.

Display scaling: Windows display scaling must be set to 100% on EBMS workstations. Higher scaling settings can cause EBMS screens, controls, and text to render incorrectly.
Workstations with more than sixteen cores may be appropriate when they must also run other CPU-intensive applications. A higher core count by itself does not improve EBMS performance; processor design, sustained clock speed, and the availability of performance cores are more important.
EBMS Data Server Requirements
The EBMS data server may be installed on supported physical hardware or in a properly sized virtual environment. Server sizing depends on concurrent users, data volume, background services, integrations, reporting activity, and other workloads placed on the server.

Storage planning: Size storage for both the EBMS system and the business's shared digital files. When practical, keep network file shares on a separate disk or storage volume so file growth does not consume the free space needed by EBMS for normal operation, maintenance, and upgrades.
Important: Systems with more than sixteen cores are capable of running EBMS, but testing has shown that some high-core-count processors can deliver lower EBMS performance. This is especially true when processor designs rely on efficiency cores or dynamically activate cores in response to load. Contact Koble Systems before selecting a server outside the recommended four-to-sixteen-core range.
Virtual Servers
Virtual servers are supported when adequate processor, memory, storage performance, and network resources are reserved for the EBMS server. Avoid aggressive CPU or memory overcommitment. The underlying storage must provide consistent solid-state performance.
Data Protection
Maintain current, automated backups of EBMS data on storage separate from the production server. Backups should be monitored and restoration procedures should be tested regularly. Virtual-machine snapshots are not a substitute for an application-aware backup strategy.
Network Requirements
When EBMS is installed on individual workstations, a stable, wired gigabit local area network (LAN) is required between those workstations and the EBMS data server. Wireless network connections, including Wi-Fi, are not supported for direct EBMS workstation-to-server communication.
Remote Desktop and Hosted EBMS
When EBMS is installed on a Remote Desktop Session Host or provided through a hosted solution, the individual user devices do not communicate directly with the EBMS data server. In this configuration, the wired gigabit network requirement applies within the server or hosting environment when the EBMS session host and data server are separate systems.
User devices accessing a Remote Desktop or hosted solution require a stable connection suitable for the remote-session service. They are not subject to the direct EBMS workstation-to-server wired-network requirement. EBMS mobile applications are designed for wireless and mobile networks and are not subject to the direct workstation-to-server Wi-Fi restriction.
Internet Connection
Core EBMS functions may operate without a continuous internet connection. Internet access is required for EBMS updates and for features that communicate with online services, including mobile applications, payment processing, bank connections, tax services, email authentication, SQL Mirror, and other third-party integrations.
A static public IP address is not a general EBMS requirement. Certain integrations or externally hosted services may require a static IP address or additional network configuration. Review those requirements with Koble Systems and your IT provider.
Required Microsoft Components
EBMS uses supported Microsoft Windows components, including Microsoft .NET Framework and Microsoft Edge WebView2 Runtime. These components must be present and kept current through Windows Update or an IT-managed update service so that required security and reliability updates are applied.
Printers and Peripheral Devices
EBMS prints reports in graphics mode. Use a currently supported laser or inkjet printer with the latest manufacturer-provided Windows driver. Install and test the printer driver on each workstation that prints from EBMS.
Printer speed, margins, output quality, and supported features can vary by printer model, Windows version, and driver version.
