Numeric Entry Formulas
A numeric value can be entered within any numeric field using the following formulas:
-
Use the plus sign to add numbers: +
-
Use the minus sign to subtract numbers: -
-
Use the asterisk sign to multiply factors: *
-
Use the backslash sign to divide values: /
-
Use parentheses to order the equation: ( )
Examples:
- The equation 6*5 in the Ordered column will result in a quantity of 30 in the following example:
- (1+3)/2
-
5/3
-
123-13
- 500/5
- 25+320
Each of these equations are valid formulas to enter into an EBMS numeric field. The system translates the formula into a standardized decimal point answer.
Some of these formulas, such as 5/3, will result in fractions. If the product can only be sold in integer amounts, the system will prompt the user to change the quantity to a whole number, instead of a fraction. See the Integer or Fractional Quantities article for more information on this feature.
