Signature Pad
EBMS supports signature capture from the following hardware:
- Verifone payment terminals: Review Payment Device for more details on payment device setup.
- Topaz T-S460, T-LBK460 signature capture pads.
Topaz Signature Pad Installation
Complete the following steps to install the Topaz signature capture pads:
-
DO NOT CONNECT the signature pad until the driver is installed.
-
Run sigplus.exe provided on the enclosed Topaz Software CD or download the latest version from http://www.topazsystems.com/Software/sigplus.exe.
-
Select the correct operating system during installation
-
Select correct tablet model T-S, and then TS460, and finally select 'HSB (USB type)'.
-
After installation is completed successfully, connect the signature pad to any available USB port.
-
Restart the computer with the pad installed for the Topaz device to work correctly.
Topaz Pad Installation using RDP Connection
Complete the following steps to install the Topaz signature capture pad within the MS Windows Remote Desktop Protocol (RDP) connection:
-
The Topaz model T-LBK460-BSB-R is required when using a RDP connection.
-
Complete the instructions found in https://topazsystems.com/software/bsb_remote.pdf. Make a special note of the steps within the For Use With a Remote Desktop Connection section starting on Page 7
-
Restart the computer after each driver installation.
Using the Topaz Signature Pad
- The pad should operate immediately after driver is installed and the signature pad is plugged into the computer USB port. Nothing else needs to be done.
- Use ONLY the supplied plastic pen stylus to write directly on the signature pad's sensor surface. The stylus must come into direct contact in order to function. Do not attempt to capture a signature through a sheet or pad of papers.
- Signatures are NOT stored in the signature pad, but are captured by software on the computer. Therefore, the fact that a signature has been made does not guarantee the signature has been captured. In order to properly capture signatures on the computer, make sure EBMS is running and then go to the Capture Signature dialog in Invoice, Payment Entry, Trucking manifest, etc. Review Signature Capture > Electronic Signature Processing for steps to use the pad within EBMS.
- Do not apply excessive pressure when signing or risk damaging the signature pad permanently because this device is based on pressure-sensitive technology.
- If the signature pad's sensor membrane surface is cut, scratched, or otherwise harmed, the device's performance will suffer and it may fail completely.
- For those that have not installed the driver or have not connected the SigLite 1x5 to their machine will still be able to view existing signature but will get warning message when trying to capture a new one.
