SH Truck Bodies is a growing operation. With a 15% revenue increase in the last two years and growing from 30 to 40 employees over the last 5 years, their business is humming.
Each week on the shop floor, SH manufactures about 40 truck bodies that they sell to distributors who install the bodies. They manufacture 10-12 standard bodies in dump, landscape, and platform varieties and also provide their distributor customers with custom sizes, configurations, features, and custom colors.
Maximizing Business, Minimizing Errors
SH takes on the amount of work they can successfully deliver, and they manage their orders, quotes, and financials with Koble’s ERP software.
“We get a request for a quote, we send the quote, we get an order and turn that into a work order through Koble’s ERP. Anything that changes or gets corrected goes in on the work order so everyone can see it. That has definitely saved us from making mistakes.”
With so many orders coming in, SH needs to keep a close eye on their inventory to make sure they have what they need to fulfill every order. Recently the Koble customization team built a custom notification that pops up when they to run short on something they need to complete a job.
“We don’t keep a lot of hoists in the shop, so if orders need hoists, we have to go out and count to make sure we have enough. The Koble team is giving us a feature that lets usknow that without having to go count.”
SH Truck Bodies has been using Koble’s ERP since 2012, when a member of their external tech support team suggested looking into the system. The tool has served their needs well throughout their growth and because of its functionality, reliability, and excellent customer service, they’ve stuck with it over the long haul.
“It just works. It does what we need it to do.”
Planning for the Future
With an ERP that connects their operations and financials, SH Truck Bodies knows where they stand today as a business and their leadership team is able to make decisions about their future with confidence. They view their ERP financial reports regularly to keep an eye on their balance sheet and profit & loss, so they can plan for the future—a future that will include expanding to handle even more business.
“We are very fortunate to have a good reputation where people are coming to us and we have to turn them down because we’re too busy. But we’re making plans and growth is definitely going to come.”
