The Caliber Metal team used to manage everything through QuickBooks and Excel. It worked fine when they were small, but as soon as they started building a larger customer base, cracks began to show.
“There was no way to track what was going in or out”
“We’d create a work order, someone might forget to save it, and it was just gone. We were having to do manual inventory counts weekly,” Jason said. “It was taking a ton of time away from actually working and more just fighting software and systems. That’s why the need arose for something more of an all-encompassing software.”
Then they implemented Koble’s ERP, EBMS. Instead of spending hours reconciling spreadsheets or re-entering data, Jason’s team now has visibility at every level of the business. “It’s made a big difference in helping us stay organized and efficient,” he says. “If something’s off, we can see it right away and fix it.”
That visibility also supports growth in ways that go beyond operations. When onboarding new employees, the team no longer has to reinvent processes or rely on scattered spreadsheets—EBMS provides the structure and consistency that make training smoother.
“It used to be impossible to have a set way of doing things,” Jason recalled. “Now it’s all built into the system.”
With the right system in place, growth became easy and replicable . Instead of spending hours reconciling data and chasing missing orders, Jason could pour more of his time into leading his team—creating clarity, consistency, and a culture that people want to be part of.
A Vision for Encouragement
Each Monday morning, the Caliber team gathers for a stand-up meeting where they share wins, talk through goals, and shout out team members who went above and beyond.
Those meetings also spotlight one of Caliber’s seven core values—like attitude, recognition, or cleanliness. “We’ll take one each week,” Jason explains. “If someone really lives out that value, we shout them out the next week for it. It keeps our vision front and center.”
Positioned for Growth
“We’ve built something we’re proud of,” Jason says. “Now we want to keep that same feel as we grow—where everyone knows their role, customers are cared for, and things don’t slip through the cracks.”
As Caliber Metal continues to expand, the goal isn’t just to get bigger—it’s to grow the right way. Jason wants every new customer, every new hire, and every new process to align with the same principles that have shaped the company from the start.
Today, Caliber’s team handles a higher volume of quotes, orders, and inventory movement than ever before, yet they’re able to do it with confidence. The system ties every sale to its purchase order, keeps stock levels accurate across the yard, and ensures that nothing “gets lost” - the very issue that used to cost them time and frustration.
As they look ahead, Jason’s confident that the foundation they’ve built—both culturally and operationally—will hold strong as they continue to grow.
A Question Worth Asking
For Jason, the right tools make it possible to stay true to Caliber’s values as they grow.
If your business is spending more time managing processes than pursuing your mission, it may be time to ask yourself: Are your systems helping you become the company you want to be—or holding you back from it?
